The October Edit

While I’m pretty sure it’s true of every month, this one has been particularly busy around the design studio. We’ve been pushing a few big projects towards the finish line as we work to dot every i and cross every t in the process. At the beginning of the month, Laura and I returned from a site visit in Idaho to our new build construction project, deemed #jmibroadwayave. It was a delightful week away, immersed in work and the beauty of Sun Valley! We wish we could show you everything we’ve been working on related to this project, but we promise a full reveal is slated for summer 2021.

In the meantime, we’ve got plenty of exciting office news, collaboration announcements and upcoming project reveals to share!

In case you haven’t heard, we have some exciting office news: we hired an intern! Jess joined our team this month, and she’s already worth her weight in gold. Rest assured, we’ll do a full introduction next month once our office is properly photographed and our new headshots are complete!

Speaking of our office—y’all have repeatedly told us you want an office tour, and it’s officially in the works! We’re scheduled with our lovely photographer, Amanda Marie Studio later this month to give our office space the close-up it deserves. But just in case you’re curious for a sneak peek, I rounded up a few pieces in the office that are available to shop!

Friends, believe it or not, we’re not finished with the big news just yet! Last week on Instagram, we announced that J Miller Interiors is currently going through a name change! In the IG post, I revealed that it’s time our studio shifts to a name that is representative and inclusive of all of the staff that works here, not just me alone. When I first started J Miller Interiors, it was difficult to see that this business would ever become something more than a one woman show. But now that we’ve grown, I think it’s time our name grows with us. An official reveal of our new name won’t be until early 2021, but keep an eye out—it’s coming!

the Bia Nightstand

Did you happen to catch that we had not one but two primary bedroom project reveals earlier this month? Project #jmielliotave and Project #jmi45thave have both wrapped up, and we are so excited to share! Stay tuned for full reveals here on the blog and plenty more details in the coming weeks.

Along with all of the above, October has been a really special month because I released my most recent collaboration with Faithful Roots and Rovan Furniture: the Bia Nightstand! The Bia nightstand was born out of my frustration in finding a customizable painted nightstand. I wanted to create something for designers and homeowners alike to get the exact look they wanted! We’re selling the nightstands you see in #jmielliotave, and the best part? You can select your own paint AND your wood finish for a completely custom piece! Keep an eye out for the upcoming console and credenza version, plus several new pieces currently in the works!

As anyone living in the upper Midwest knows, winter can be brutal, especially on your skin. I have spent what feels like a lifetime trying to find the right products for my super dry skin, and I think the search is finally over. This month, I’m excited to share my go-to products to battle winter dryness, including several pieces from this new to me brand, Salt and Stone. They produce everything from lip balms to lotions, and I’m 100% obsessed.
