The September Edit

Fall weather has found its way to Minneapolis and I, for one, am feeling so ready for the change of seasons. While we tend to live up every last second of summer here in the Twin Cities, I’m welcoming those crisp temperatures and turning leaves as a much-needed change of scenery this year.

Of course, with the changing weather comes new routines, and our family is officially in the back to school and work swing. Laura and I have been staying busy juggling several fun client projects (more on that soon!), and I’ve been gathering inspiration left and right for lots of upcoming work in the months ahead. While this season looks incredibly different than any of us imagined, I’m ready to hit the reset button, refresh my home and wardrobe, and step into autumn with arms wide open. If you want a few more tips on cozying up your home for fall, over on the Redfin blog talking all how to brighten up your home as the seasons change.

In an effort to build a closet that I love and actually wear every piece on regular rotation, I’m taking time to slowly incorporate new additions that I hope will last for the long haul. These packable hats have become my new go-to accessory, and they were directly inspired by Laura! Up until now, I always thought I wasn’t a hat person, but as it turns out, it just took finding the right one. I can’t recommend this cotton fedora style enough, and I’ll definitely be rocking hats this season on a regular basis.

I’ve previously shared that I’m a “one go-to pair of shoes per season” kind of person, and I’m currently on the hunt for my new fall favorites. At the moment, this pair of comfortable sneaker booties is sitting at the top of my list, and I love that they just so happen to be waterproof, too.

After undergoing Lasik surgery nearly 15 years ago, I’m super sensitive to the sun, so a good pair of sunglasses is always a must. Unfortunately, my kiddo recently sat on my favorite sunglasses, so I bought the exact pair again, but decided to switch things up with a new color!

I’m always up for a good Netflix docuseries, and The Last Dance was one of the best things I’ve streamed this year. As someone who watched every game of the Chicago Bulls seasons in the 1990s, this series was a major trip down memory lane.

I’m happy to report that our family made it through the first week of virtual kindergarten, and needless to say, it’s been an adventure for us all. We’re incredibly thankful to our local school’s teaching and support staff who’ve rallied together to make this distance learning experience happen, and we’re so excited to watch my son grow throughout the year.

Alongside my family, I’m continuing to do more learning (and unlearning) of my own in an ongoing effort towards anti-racism. I just started How to be an Antiracist by Ibram Kendi after receiving countless recommendations, and I have a feeling it will be one of the most important reads on this topic to date.

If you have other great books to add to my list, I’d love to hear!

Over at the studio, we’re finishing up a few primary bedrooms, and if you want my opinion, you can NEVER have too many pillows! I found a few on Etsy that I’ve already bookmarked for future projects, and I might order a few for myself while I’m at it.

Along with current sourcing work, I’m also starting the inspiration phase for a few upcoming projects. During this point in the design process, I’m always, always updating my Pinterest and Shop Pages with all the goodies we’re loving at the moment. Keep a close eye to snag some of our favorite pieces for your home!
