The February Edit

As we turned the calendar into a new month, it really feels like 2023 is off and running! We’ve been making strides toward expanding our studio (both in physical space and actual humans) and I’m really proud of where we are headed as a group. Progress is finally starting to take off at the Yond Cottage, and I’ve made some updates around my personal home that add cozy layers and feel more reflective of our ever-evolving aesthetic.

Exciting Recent Press

We’ve had a few exciting press hits this month! Rue covered our Mississippi River Boulevard project, and I shared some of my favorite details that brought the project together and instilled a sense of purpose and place to the home. The custom wood vanities in each bathroom of our Broadway Court project were highlighted in detail in Domino and it was fun to talk about all of the careful consideration we take when designing cabinetry. Elle Decor Espana covered the entire Broadway Court home, celebrating the extensive use of natural materials throughout the house. It’s a huge honor to think that our work is in front of an entirely new audience in such a beautiful, thoughtful way!

Yond Cottage Progress Report

The pace of progress at the Yond Cottage was much slower than we’d hoped in 2022. We hit several unavoidable roadblocks including unexpected family issues for our contractor, variance delays with the county regarding the deck, and long lead times for appliances, windows and doors.  All of that is behind us now and we are finally making some quick progress! The rough plumbing and electrical is set, which means we can move forward with insulation and closing up the walls which feels like a HUGE step after months of seeing the interior structure of the walls. We’ve made our final selection for wall finishes - you can expect character-enhancing elements limewash, wallpaper, and loads of beadboard. Next week we’ll measure for cabinetry and we are hopeful to open up the calendar for late summer rentals in the spring.
