Broadway Court Project Reveal: Part II

A few weeks ago, we shared part one of our Broadway Court project reveal. This custom-built home is surrounded by the quietly stunning landscape of Sun Valley, Idaho, and proved to be one of our most inspiring projects to date. The first part of our reveal detailed the kitchen and main living spaces, but this time, we’re shifting our focus to the four bedrooms and five bathrooms that make up the home. We’ll uncover the overarching elements that unify each space and highlight the standout natural materials that anchor our design.

We wanted to bring in the earthiness of the location of the home, so we relied on natural materials like limestone, marble, terracotta, and concrete to execute the spaces.

Project Overview

CLIENT: Project Broadway Court

LOCATION: Sun Valley, ID

TIMELINE: 1.5 years

SCOPE OF WORK: Entire home: fixtures and furniture

Designing each one of the four bedrooms and four bathrooms was a lesson in balance. The materials of each space needed to be highly considered, all while ensuring the home exuded the modern warmth our homeowners were seeking. We wanted to bring in the earthiness of the location of the home, so we relied on natural materials like limestone, marble, terracotta, and concrete to execute the spaces. For the primary bathroom, we combined waterproof plaster with marble for a highly luxurious look and feel. We wanted to give the homeowners a special experience, and this was the perfect way to do so.

All of the tile in this house is pretty incredible, but the fluted wall of tile in the guest primary is a standout. Similar to the primary bathroom, we combined one wall of waterproof plaster with the space for some added balance.

White oak became a primary theme throughout the house—bedrooms and bathrooms included. We utilized white oak for all of the vanities to bring consistency and durability. The only exception is the powder room, which features beautiful wallpaper and a combined brass and stone sink!

We had so much fun designing the bunk beds with our local Minneapolis furniture maker, Rovan Furniture. We didn’t want the bunks to be sharp, so we rounded every corner possible to keep active kids safe and sound. Lowering the first bunk to the floor allowed us to get two full-on-full sized bunks with 9-foot ceilings. We went through several iterations of the handrail, and we’re so happy where we landed.

Another feature we loved designing was the water closet in the kids’ bathroom. We opted for a durable and wipeable wall paneling painted a muted olive green with wallpaper featured above. Between the rich color tones and pattern play, the water closet has become a bit of a destination within the home.

While this was quite a large-scale project, it felt so natural to create a sense of continuation from one space to another. The exterior of the property and the landscape made it easy to draw inspiration and keep things consistent. One of the best parts of working with a designer is our ability to see a project in its entirety. We've honed our skills to ensure each room tells its own story while always working together as a whole.
