The December Edit

We’d like to thank all of you for following along as we shared our work and our art for another year. Whether you follow along on Instagram, Pinterest, or just occasionally check in here on the site, every comment, like, direct message, save, and share truly means so much. We know there are many designers out there doing beautiful work, and to know that our work resonates with you — and that you take time out of your life to let us know that — is truly an honor.

A New Project to Share

Thoughtful shapes, textures, and colors work in harmony in our new Parklands Road project. Shapely Art Deco chairs covered in a divine mohair, a raisin-toned rug, and hand-printed botanical wallpaper designed by legendary British printmaker Marthe Armitage are just a few of the special moments in this room. It took 11 months for this space to come together (yes, we’re still experiencing manufacturing and shipping delays) and we are so glad that our we were able to get our clients “home for the holidays.” We’ll break down all of the elements in a full reveal next month, but for now, you can view the project in our portfolio.

Our Plans for the Holiday Break

Our office will be closed during the week between Christmas and New Year’s, and while it will no doubt be filled with plenty of holiday merriment, I’m also looking forward to spending some time with my feet up, sitting in front of a fire with a new book. It’s the perfect time of year for something a little more thoughtful and dense, so I’m scanning The New York Times’ list of the best books of the year in search of a new title. If you’re still shopping, I find books a lovely and thoughtful gift, and even better if purchased from a shop in your community. If you don’t have one local to you, consider making your purchases from bookshop.org or indiebound.org where you can purchase books from independent sellers and have them shipped to you.

Last-Minute Gift Ideas

We’re wrapping up our holiday gifting but if you’re still shopping too, here are a few ideas we’d love to give or receive. From a daily gratitude journal to the best pair of slippers and the softest, most beautiful throw blanket, these are sure to be a hit with anyone on your list. And if you need a gift for the host or hostess in your life, consider this pretty candle snuffer, a detailed serving set, or a sturdy handmade mug.

Monthly Content Recap

‘Tis the season for gathering around a cozy fireplace, but designing them can be tedious. Of course, we love the nostalgic element that a fireplace adds to a room, but they are important architecturally, too. We shared several we have designed and broke down the structural differences, architectural elements, and materials we most often use.

Colors evoke all kinds of opinions and emotions so we’ll be the first to say that we are happy to see brown trending again. The earthy, saturated neutral is classic and authentic, and plays well in almost any color palette.
