The October Edit

After living in Minneapolis for nearly ten years, this has to be one of the most beautiful autumns I've ever experienced. We've had a month of warmer than average temperatures, giving us plenty of time to get outside and enjoy the season in all its beauty.

As we prepare for the chilly weather that's right around the corner, our wardrobes and meals are finally making the seasonal transition, too. In this month's edition of The Edit, we're mixing things up with a few fall recipes we're cooking, the wardrobe pieces we're loving, and the behind-the-scenes peeks we're sharing from the JMI studio.

Earlier this month, the Emily Henderson team shared a post naming which interior designers they would hire for their own homes. We were blown away to make the list thanks to the team’s Design Contributor, Lea Johnson. It’s always an honor to have our work highlighted, but even more so when that comes from those within the industry. Thank you, Emily Henderson + team!

TO STREAM

As the days get shorter and the nights get colder, fall is the perfect time to find a new favorite series. There are so many great new releases, and my recent must-watch is Only Murderers in the Building on Hulu. It strikes a really fun balance of comedy and suspense, with lots of plot twists to keep you guessing every episode. If a bit of mystery is up your alley, I highly recommend you put this one on your watch list. Better yet, save it to stream the week of Halloween!

TO COOK

We’ve been longtime fans of Tieghan Gerard from the popular food blog Half Baked Harvest. She’s known for her fresh, seasonal recipes that elevate everyday cooking without ever feeling overly fussy. Tieghan’s recipes have helped put the joy back into weeknight cooking, and we’ve particularly loved her fall-inspired takes on Italian classics.

This month, we’ve been making her Rosemary Roasted Butternut Squash Pizza and Roasted Garlic Alfredo Stuffed Spaghetti Squash on repeat. They’re both a perfect ode to the season, and we can’t recommend adding them to your rotation enough! While you’re at it, be sure to pick up a copy of her cookbook Half Baked Harvest Super Simple. Not only is it chock-full of fun recipes, but it doubles as beautiful styling pieces in the kitchen.

TO WEAR

‘Tis the season for layering, and we’re looking to add a few well-designed pieces to our wardrobe. We’re particularly loving staples like these High Loose Taper Jeans and these Freda Salvador Chelsea Boots for their endless versatility. You can shop everything that's caught our eye below!
